The Mailbox

Contact Your Officials

Congress.org offers tools to find the contact information for your elected officials at any level of government: federal, state, and local. Enter your zip code in the box on the left-hand side under the heading "My Elected Officials" and click "Go", and the website will look up the contact information for your state and federal officials.

From there, you can click on "Local Officials" in the secondary menu bar (the light blue one that starts with "Congressional Directory") to find contact information for your local government officials.

Tips:
  1. When writing a letter be sure to reference any proposed legislation by number if applicable (i.e. HR 123)
  2. Don't use form letters emailed to you or found on a website. Masses of these form letters typically are just stacked together and are generally not given as much weight as a letter written by an individual.
  3. For the most impact, write and mail a letter, and address the envelope by hand.
  4. You may also fax or phone the official's office
