"There are five boxes to use in the defense of Liberty: The Soap Box, the Mail Box, the Ballot Box, the Jury Box, and the Ammunition Box. Please use them in that order."

We’re still not buying it, Al

If you’ve been paying attention, the enviro-nuts have changed their tune from “Global Warming” to “Global Climate Change.” Probably because with headlines like this, getting people to believe that the earth is warming is becoming harder and harder:

And while we’re talking about hot air, it seems like Al Gore is getting rich lying to us. According to this New York Times article, the ex-veep is raking in money hand-over-fist on investments in “green” companies. And while he jets around in his private jet from $100,000 speech to $100,000 speech, he buys “carbon offsets” from the carbon trading company that he has a major investment in.

Speaking of carbon offsets, one New York Times columnist says that couples that limit themselves to one child should get them because, after all, human beings are nothing more than evil polluters of mother earth.

Of ironic interest is Gore’s investment in some biofuels companies. Why is this ironic? Because burning biofuels releases as much carbon dioxide as burning good old-fashioned gasoline or diesel. And, according to a new study, burning biofuels could result in more so-called greenhouse gasses.

“But what about the polar bears!” eviro-weenies yell. Well, when they’re not busy eating baby seals (no, seriously, that’s what polar bears eat,) they’re reproducing at record levels. That’s right, sports fans, contrary to what Al Gore and his mindless followers would have you believe, polar bear populations are not only increasing, they’re 40% higher than they were in 1974.

Anyone looking for a non-partisan logical-statistical look at the hype machine that is the enviro-weenies, check out SuperFreakonomics. According to one of the authors, “We discuss how even the most sophisticated climate models are limited in their ability to predict the future, and we discuss the large measure of uncertainty in this realm, given that global climate is such a complex and dynamic system. We discuss some of the commonly held misperceptions about climate and energy, including the fact that the historic relationship between global temperature and atmospheric carbon dioxide is more complicated than is generally thought.”

Afghanistan is still burning, Obama is still fiddling

Dear Mr. Commander In Chief: Make a decision. Either listen to the generals and approve more troops so we can win the war, or declare a loss and pull everyone out immediately. Your indecisiveness is costing needless American lives. But whatever you do, stop partying while Americans are dying in the name of freedom.

ObamaCare update

Possibly the most heinous thing about the new proposed healthcare bill is that taxpayer dollars will be used to fund abortions. That’s right, whether or not you believe in abortion, your money will pay for them. Call your Representatives and Senators now. You can find their contact information in the Get Involved sidebar to the right by putting in your zip code and clicking the Go button.

Robert Bidinotti put together an excellent pice on how ObamaCare will hurt you, even if you keep your current insurance. If you read nothing else about the ObamaCare bull bill, read this piece.

Some more research we’ve done, and some more headlines you shouldn’t ignore:

As transparent as a closed door

Despite her September 24th statement that she was “absolutely” committed to doing so, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi will not allow the final language of the health care to be posted online for 72 hours before bringing the bill to a vote on the House floor. As if the Democrats locking out Republicans from the healthcare debate weren’t bad enough, now those in their ivory towers in Washington are locking We the People out of the debate. We’d call it “unbelievable” but sadly, did people really believe that any of these politicians would keep their campaign promises?

These people will be in charge of your health records

Lies, damn lies, and government figures

Is it any wonder that we’re in the financial mess we’re in when the dunderheads in Washington can’t be honest about their math?

Now here’s some figures we can believe in:

Certainly they’re kidding

It’s no mystery that we’re in this current financial mess because the housing market imploded. Anyone who’s been paying attention knows that the housing market imploded because too many people got into the housing market who didn’t belong there. And these people got into the housing market because lending institutions approved too many risky loans. No one can debate these facts, right?

Well, in the wake of this mess, with Representative Barney Frank leading the way, Congress is moving to expand it’s financial oversight. Supposedly to protect our pocketbooks. And they figure the best way to protect you is to…. promote risky mortgages. Wait. What? Did we read that wrong? Unfortunately, no. Despite the fact that the mortgage meltdown was caused by federal mandates, more bad mortgages are on the way thanks to a new Congressional committee. As usual, our government’s solution to a government-caused problem is more government.

It’s not fascism, really!

One of the tenets of fascism is to control the media and shut down opposition in the media. It happened in the Soviet Union. It happened in Nazi Germany. Hugo Chavez is doing it in Venezuela. And now, Obama is doing it here in the United States:

Because some speech is freer that others

Common media — television and radio — presents a huge barrier of entry to upstarts. Namely, money. Most people don’t have the money necessary to start their own radio or TV station, and becoming a famous talk show host like Oprah or Rush Limbaugh is a one-in-a-million shot. The internet had become a great open expanse of conversation, where anyone can set up a blog for free and post their ideas and beliefs and express their point of view. You don’t even need a computer, since you can use a public computer at the library or a school.

Of course the government believes that the internet is too free. Therefore, it must be regulated.

They call this affront to free speech “net neutrality” and try to cloak it under the guise of making the internet equal for everyone. It is anything but. Net neutrality is nothing more than restricting free speech. Some articles explaining what net neutrality is and what the government wants to do are listed below.

Call your Representative in Congress and tell them to support Representative Marsha Blackburn’s bill to block net neutrality.
